Ancient Thira was build after the great volcanic eruption of the 17th century BC which destroyed the island, gave her a new shape and put Santorini out of the map for more than 1000 years. The 8th century BC Spartans established a city on the highest point of the island which was connected by road with the two ports of that time. Kamari and Perissa.

Admire the unique architecture, the old mansions, the traditional “yposkafa” and the medieval castles.
Enjoy the multi awarded wines from the oldest vineyards of Europe. Assyrtiko, Vinsanto and Nyxteri are the local PDO wines that you can find in all the wineries around the island.
